Volvo 850 BTCC tribute
In 1994 Volvo partnered with TWR to get back into motorsport and they did this in quite the unconventional way by placing the new 850 estate on track with Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers behind the wheel in the BTCC series. The cars performed very well but made more of an impact on the crowds, making the Volvo 850 estate arguably the most iconic car from the super touring era.
So it’s known that we at EP-COMPS love Volvo, and we are also heading to Exposed events to promote and do one of our excellent live draws on stage… we did think about going boring and safe with a hot hatch like a Focus ST, then we realised this is EP-COMPS. we don’t do boring, so let’s get a BTCC tribute and create a scene! Anyway, it’s a 5 cylinder turbo like an ST, so we are kind of sticking to the first plan.
So yes this is not an actual touring car (we are far too poor for that at the moment) but this is a great looking tribute with a fair few cool bits to make it go and handle incredibly well along with the added bonus of being a 7 seater.
So this Volvo has the following to make it a bit sporty.
Stainless steel sports exhaust
BC racing coil overs
Uprated fuel pump
Baileys dump valve
DO88 hose
BSR induction kit
Hard pipe conversion
Shemtek ecu
Light brake upgrade
Audio upgrade
It does shift with a predicted 275bhp, and those coil overs really do allow it to grip the road. We love this car, and everyone who has seen it loves it, too. It’s the perfect mix of speed, handling, comfort, and practicality.
