Summer is pretty much here… well, we like to think so anyway! And what better way to make the most of it than behind the wheel of a small, mid-engined convertible sports car?

There’s nothing quite like top-down motoring on those rare sunny days. Picture this: cruising along the coast on a warm summer evening, roof down, your favourite tunes playing, and nothing but good vibes as you soak up the sunshine. Sounds perfect, right?

Well, that brings us to this competition — and trust us, it’s a cracker. With just 1,500 tickets available, the odds are seriously low. Better still, it’s another MG Rover product, which we know is always a crowd favourite. Judging by how popular the last few have been, we’re sure you lot love them just as much as we do!

Meet the MGF — a car we think is hugely underrated. It’s an absolute joy to drive, with a rev-happy engine that really comes alive when you give it some stick. Some people call it a “poor man’s Lotus,” but we think that does it a disservice. The MGF is a genuinely fun, affordable sports car that delivers smiles by the mile.

And when it comes to maintenance, there’s excellent parts support from our friends at DMGRS, making ownership easier than ever.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: the head gasket.

Yes, it’s powered by the famous K-Series engine, and yes, they do have a reputation. But the good news is that this car has already had the upgraded head gasket fitted around 2,000 miles ago, with an invoice to prove it. A number of other jobs were carried out at the same time too, so you can enjoy this little roadster with confidence.

As for the spec, this one really won us over. We absolutely adore the two-tone brown interior (if you’ve followed our previous competitions, that probably won’t surprise you!). In fact, the interior alone was enough to sell us on the car.

On the outside, it wears a wonderfully quirky colour that seems to change depending on the light. One minute it looks blue, the next black, and sometimes even grey — but whatever shade it appears, it suits this little sports car perfectly.

Under the bonnet is the eager 1.8-litre engine producing 120 bhp. Combined with a kerb weight of just 1,100 kg, it makes for a seriously entertaining drive on a twisty back road. This is exactly the kind of sports car that proves you don’t need huge power or silly speeds to have an incredible amount of fun.

So, if you fancy owning a fantastic little summer toy with brilliant odds, you know exactly what to do!

Oh my my my…. we forgot to mention the car comes with a black hard top too for those winter months!
