We do like a big barge, but as we all know, there’s one country that’s truly known for them—big, luxurious land yachts cruising down open freeways—and that country is America.

We would have done some sooner, but if we’re being honest, Ed was incredibly hesitant about getting another big old American barge on site—and rightly so. The last one we did about a year ago went so well for us (sarcasm). In fact, it went so well that the previous owners decided to do a great shoutout video containing non-factual information about the car and saying “do not enter”—despite being fully aware of the situation, as we had been in discussions with them beforehand showing them the issues raised were being sorted before they even made contact with us.

That led to legal fees, a noticeable drop in sales across the site, threats to our safety, and a whole lot of backlash. Not to mention the significant financial loss that nearly forced us to close the doors entirely. So once again, thanks for that. But we’re still here—it takes more than that to shut this comps site down… even if it is run by bumbling idiots.

So, the Cadillac.

This 1996 Cadillac Eldorado is a bit of an odd one—and we love it for that. First off, the colour combination: green over tan. It’s a classic, and on this car it just looks right.

Under the bonnet sits Cadillac’s 4.6-litre Northstar V8, sending power to the front wheels—which is about as unconventional as it sounds, and very Cadillac. It’s smooth, effortless, and built for cruising rather than anything too serious.

Usually we’d lean into a more tongue-in-cheek description with something like this, but this time it’s a bit different. This is a genuinely nice, honest car that we would like to tell you more about as a classic car enthusiasts point of view over our regular silly behaviour.

With just 49,000 miles on the clock, it presents really well overall. The interior is in great condition for its age, and it’s clearly been well looked after. The history file is immense too, with paperwork going all the way back to the original bill of sale in the USA. It was then immediately imported to the UK, where it remained within the same family until we purchased it. This really is a car that has been enthusiast owned and has been looked after to the highest of standards and stored in the correct way to keep this Cadillac looking as smart as it did in the 90s

All in all, this makes for not only a great prize if you’re after a slightly silly slice of American motoring, but also a genuinely solid and usable classic that could make a smart investment.
