About This Competition

At EP-COMPS we absolutely love a car that’s built for attacking B-roads, something that grips like it’s on rails or packs a completely unnecessary engine swap just because someone thought, “Yeah… that’ll fit.” But every now and then we head in a different direction. Sometimes all you need is an old-school cruiser that turns heads everywhere it goes and is perfect for those drives with absolutely no destination in mind—just good music, the windows down and not a care in the world. That’s exactly what this Mercedes-Benz W202 is all about… and sitting on air suspension, it looks absolutely sensational.

We genuinely adore this thing. It drives exactly how a W202 should—smooth, comfortable and effortless—but then you park up, hit the switches and watch it gracefully sink onto the floor while everyone nearby suddenly forgets what they were doing. It’s the sort of car that makes you feel cooler than you probably are. Pull up outside one of those questionable “gentleman’s establishments”, lay it out on the tarmac and for a brief moment you’ll convince yourself you’ve just arrived in a 90s hip-hop music video. We obviously can’t promise anything else that happens after that… but you’ll look fantastic doing it.

So, onto the car itself. This is a Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W202) C200, meaning it’s surprisingly sensible too. Cheap insurance, respectable MPG and classic Mercedes reliability make it a genuinely usable modern classic. It’s fitted with independently controlled air suspension, all installed very recently, allowing you to dial in the perfect ride height whether you’re cruising or scraping absolutely nothing because common sense kicks in first.

It’s also wearing a set of later-style 18-inch Monoblock wheels. We weren’t completely convinced when we first heard about them, but seeing the car in person changed our minds instantly—they suit it perfectly and finish the whole look off beautifully. Finished in Emerald Black Metallic, the paint comes alive in the sunlight with gorgeous green and blue tones before looking almost black again in lower light. Inside you’ll find the cloth Elegance interior. It might not be flashy leather, but honestly, we think it suits the car perfectly and adds to that understated Mercedes charm.

As always, being EP-COMPS means the odds are sensible, the ticket price is fair and someone has to win it. So if you’ve fancied owning a bagged Benz that’s guaranteed to make people look twice wherever it goes, you know what to do. Get your entries in… because you never know, the next phone call from Ed might just be to tell you this ridiculously cool cruiser is heading to your driveway.
