About This Competition

We all need a bit of pink in our lives, right? Well… maybe not everyone. But I’m sure we can all think of a friend, relative, colleague or sworn enemy who deserves a healthy dose of pink in theirs! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what this one is all about.

Sometimes we bring you ridiculous engine swaps, sometimes we find a ridiculously cool barge, and every now and then Ed loses the plot completely and buys something that was clearly designed as a joke. Something that some of you will absolutely love… and others will immediately start thinking about who they could tactically gift it to just to ruin their day.

But here’s the annoying part… this thing actually looks bloody cool.

Sat outside at night with the underglow blazing away, this sparkly pink Golf somehow goes from “what the actual f##k is that?” to “hang on… I quite like it” in about three seconds.

And what a motorcar it is. Finished in hot pink glitter paint that absolutely sparkles wherever you take it, with a full underglow setup capable of producing considerably more colours than we probably need. White BBS-style wheels sit perfectly against the pink bodywork, with pink calipers hiding behind them, while the whole thing has been dropped properly low on coilovers.

Then there are the little details… and this is where things get interesting.

Pink sidelights, a love-heart exhaust tip that gets more comments than it probably deserves, naughty dice dust caps, fluffy handcuffs hanging from the mirror just in case a passenger gets out of line, and of course… the gear knob.

Now, how do we describe the gear knob without getting ourselves into trouble?

Well… it’s shiny.

It’s ribbed.

It’s rather anatomically suggestive.

And we’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Let’s just say it’s not something we’d recommend grabbing without knowing what you’re getting yourself into.

Under the bonnet you’ll find a mighty 1.6-litre petrol engine. It’s not going to set any lap records, but that’s not what this car is about. It gets respectable economy, should be nice and cheap to insure and, most importantly, allows you to drive around looking absolutely ridiculous while having an enormous amount of fun doing it.

And because it’s a Golf, there’s plenty of room inside too. Four people can comfortably get in, although after a few minutes surrounded by glitter, fluffy handcuffs and whatever the hell that gear knob is, we’re not entirely sure they’ll still be just friends by the time they arrive.

This isn’t a car for taking yourself too seriously.

It’s a car for laughs, attention, questionable decisions, questionable accessories and turning up somewhere looking like you’ve accidentally driven straight out of an Ann Summers delivery van.

So whether you’re after the greatest gift known to mankind, the ultimate revenge present, or you simply have the balls to own a glittery pink Golf yourself, this could be the one for you.

It’s low odds, it’s ridiculous, it’s genuinely cool… and frankly, we couldn’t think of a better way to add a little more pink to your life.

Why the hell not?
