It’s been far too long since we’ve had a BMW drift car on EP-COMPS, so it’s about time we changed that with this seriously cool M54B30-swapped E36 Touring.

Turn-key, road-legal drift cars are always a recipe for a good time, and this one is absolutely no exception. It’s the kind of car you can happily daily drive during the week, load up with tyres at the weekend, drive to the track, spend all day hanging the back end out, and then cruise straight back home again. Better still, being a Touring means you’ve actually got the space to carry those spare wheels and tyres without having to play a game of Tetris before every drift day.

Visually, this thing is impossible to ignore. Finished in a vibrant blue with a striking period-inspired drift livery, it grabs attention absolutely everywhere it goes. Expect plenty of thumbs up, people stopping for photos, and the occasional knowing look from fellow enthusiasts who already know exactly what’s about to happen when you arrive at the next roundabout.

Under the bonnet sits BMW’s legendary M54B30 3.0-litre straight-six from an E46 330i, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, welded small-case differential and medium-case driveshafts. It’s been fitted with E46 hubs and arms, coilovers, polybushes throughout the underside, upgraded 2.8 front brakes and increased steering lock over standard. There’s also the obligatory oversized hydraulic handbrake and a glorious exhaust system finished with twin shotgun-style rear exits that sound every bit as aggressive as they look.

Inside, things remain refreshingly simple with standard seats, meaning there’s no awkward climbing over bucket bolsters or wondering whether you’ll fit behind the wheel. Just jump in, fire it up and enjoy it.

This is exactly the sort of quirky, characterful machine we love offering here. A practical drift wagon, a head-turning showpiece and an absolute laugh to drive all rolled into one package. Someone is about to win themselves a seriously fun BMW.
