We all love a slightly odd hot hatch — the kind of car that probably shouldn’t have existed, but we’re very glad it does. When Suzuki decided to have a crack at it in the early 2000s, they created something genuinely special: the Ignis Sport.
Inspired by Suzuki’s rally success at the time, the Sport took the humble Ignis and transformed it into a lightweight, back-road weapon that quickly won silverware in rally competition — but more importantly, it won the hearts of true enthusiasts worldwide thanks to its unmistakable charm and character.
At its heart sits a rev-happy 1.5-litre engine that absolutely loves being worked hard. It begs to live high in the rev range, rewarding drivers with eager response and that classic naturally aspirated energy that modern hot hatches sometimes forget. Pair that with one of the best parts of the car — that gearbox. The ratios feel perfectly chosen for rally stages, which also makes them ideal for throwing this 110hp, 935kg front-wheel-drive hatchback down a twisty B-road. Lightweight, mechanical, and brilliantly involving, it’s the definition of old-school hot hatch fun.
This particular example is a lovely, honest little car that’s been subtly improved where it matters. It benefits from CUSCO coilovers, giving the Ignis sharper turn-in and impressive grip — genuinely making it feel like it belongs on a tarmac rally stage. Meg has also kindly included new service items in the boot, ready for the car’s next maintenance, courtesy of one of her sponsors — a nice bonus for the next lucky owner.
Which brings us nicely to the story behind “Little Suki the Suzuki.” Owned and enjoyed by Meg herself, she knew just how special these cars are and had to experience one firsthand. Sadly, her time with Suki has come to an end… and that’s where we come in.
We’re giving you the chance to win one of your favourite influencer cars in one of our low-odds competitions — a genuine modern classic hot hatch with personality, pedigree, and huge smiles per mile.
