About This Competition
So this is a bit different from our usual madness, but here me out… This is one of the most fun and enjoyable classic cars to drive. So yes its not an overly restored example, but that’s what makes this car so special! I was intending to keep this as my personal car but with the NEC classic car show fast approaching we needed a classic on site!
This is a 1962 MK2 Sprite which started its life out in Australia as a club racer. It eventually found it’s way to England where it has been thoroughly enjoyed over the years. The mk2 benefits from the arguably much better rear suspension set up and has the pure back to basic feel we all love! Engine wise the 1275cc is now a freshly built 1310cc with lots of goodies such as the fast road cam, velocity stacks on the re jetted twin SU carbs, Dyanamator for reliable charging and plenty of other bits. Its also been fitted with an LSD so it really does grip up well (and goes sideways when needed).
Little touches on this car is why I love it, such as the painted bluemels reg plates, stickers in the engine bay to show its past, correct instruments, and that steering wheel! This really is a great example of a fast road Sprite that really can be used and enjoyed which is why I love it!
